The Dresden Monarchs will face the Hildesheim Invaders for the second time in two weeks Saturday May 20, this time in Hildesheim.
Two weeks ago, Dresden quarterback Garrett Safron threw seven touchdown passes en route to a 62-17 shellacking of the Invaders. Sebastian Sagne was on the receiving end of four of those passes while Micky Kyei caught two and Joseph Bergeron caught one. Safety William James added a touchdown on a fumble return while Florian Finke kicked two field goals and eight extra points.
The Invaders are led by head coach and European football legend Joe Roman and are looking to improve on the horrendous start to the season. The Invaders will need quarterback Zach Cavanaugh to have a better game (13 of 23, 144 yards, 1 int.) and tailback Reggie Bullock (24 carries, 80 yards, 1 TD) needs to find room to run.
Hildesheim’s defense also needs to be ready for Dresden’s fast start. The game was over early in the first meeting as the Monarchs held a 28-3 lead after one quarter.
But the thing about back to back games? The losing team has the advantage. And Hildesheim will no doubt adjust. If you are Dresden head coach John Leijten you don’t change a thing.
This could be a surprising game.
