The Limburg Shotguns opened the season in the new BNL league with an emphatic 41-0 win over the Arnhem Falcons.
In the game, played at Beringen Mijnstadion, the Shotguns took charge early and never let up.
With running back Jaycen Taylor leading the way, Limburg jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter lead. The floodgates opened in the second period with Taylor scoring again while quarterback Bram Baeté and wide receiver Gorik Braet added one apiece to give the Shotguns a 28-0 lead at the half.
Although the Falcons came out fired up in the second half, the Limburg defense held strong. Then wide receiver Jay Koltzem scored his first of two touchdowns on a pitch from Baeté extending the lead to 36-0 following a successful two-point convert.
Koltzem scored his second touchdown in the fourth quarter after backup quarterback Oskar Sardyga connected with him. Arnhem blocked the PAT leaving the final score 41-0
Next up for the Shotguns are the Groningen Giants on March 26.
