Fujitsu Frontiers veteran Trashaun Nixon has been named the MVP of Japan’s 2022 X-League season.
Nixon, a 6’1″, 230-pound running back was the league’s leading rusher breaking loose for 531 yards and six touchdowns during the short six-game regular season in Japan’s X-League.
For Nixon, the MVP award is the latest in what has been a brilliant career in Japan. This year’s MVP trophy joins him from 2018, as he becomes a two-time winner of the award. The MVP trophies should look good next to the veteran’s four X-Bowl and Rice Bowl titles.

Nixon has been named to the All-X-League team every year since 2016, with the exception of 2019. Moreover, in 2016 and 2017 he was named to all X-League teams as a linebacker and in 2020 he was recognized by coaches as a defensive end. The versatile Oxnard, California native has been an unprecedented weapon for Fujitsu lining up wherever the team needed him since his arrival.
The former starting linebacker at New Mexico State where he earned All-WAC second team honors as a senior, converted to running back for Fujitsu in 2018 and has been a dominant force ever since in the Frontiers backfield. In that MVP year in 2018, he led the league in rushing with 817 yards and also led the league in scoring with 14 touchdowns.
