After six weeks of play, the individual passing, receiving and rushing leaders in the Italian Football League remain the same. This is remarkable as they all play for teams with losing records. And TJ Pryor, quarterback of the famed Pistol offense for the Milano Rhinos is still not among the top 5 passers but remains the number two rusher in Italy. The leaders in passing, receiving and rushing after six weeks of play in Italy definitely make for interesting reading.
Passing
Firenze Guelfi quarterback Eddie Printz continues to lead the league by with his 1,578 yards and 14 touchdown passes after gaining the Guelfi’s first win of the year. The Guelfi are seventh in scoring in the league. Dustin Willingham is keeping pace with Printz’s pace throwing for 175 yards in Bolzano’s first loss of the year to the Milano Rhinos. He now has 1,423 yards and a league-leading 17 TD passes. The Milano Seamen’s Luke Zahradka is still in third despite not playing a league game last week. His Seamen, who beat the Berlin Rebels in Big6 play have top offense in Italy with 178 points behind his 1,208 yards passing. Ancona’s Ryan Kasdorf remains in fourth with his 1,120 yards Tommaso Monardi from the Parma Panthers is edging closer with 990 yards passing and 12 TDs after throwing for 295 yards and two TDs in a win over the Lazio Marines.
Receiving
Firenze Guelfi wide receiver Michael Vanucci still leads the country with 681 yards in receiving which accounts for almost half of quarterback Eddie Printz’s totals. It is no surprise that the second leading receiver is Marco Bonacci of the Bolzano Giants with his 563 yards and eight TDs. Reece Horn from the Seamen stays in third with 378 yards while Michele Marchini is in fourth with 370 yards while the Giants Mark Simone stays in fifth with 354 yards n receptions.
Rushing
Torino Giaguari’s running back Louis Cotrone tops the league in Italy with 603 yards in six games. Rhinos quarterback TJ Pryor remains in second and the Rhinos are a solid 5-0 and with Pryor behind center have a very balanced attack. The Bergamo Lions improved play of late is due in part to the versatility of quarterback Giorgio Bryant who has moved up to third in rushing with 427 yards. The Parma Panthers Alessandro Malpeli Avalli is now in fourth with 325 yards rushing as Parma improves to 5-1. Italy’s fifth leading rusher is Dolphin’s quarterback, Ryan Kasdorf who is the only quarterback among the top five in both passing and rushing.
