The Parma Panthers, who play in Italy’s top league, Division I, have signed Central Washington Wildcats (NCAA Div, I) quarterback Reilly Hennessey for the 2019 season.
The 6’3″, 200 lb Hennessey, from Camas, Washington threw for 2,705 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2018 to go along with his 2,551 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2017. He also ran for 572 yards and five touchdowns in 2018, setting a CWU single season record for rushing yards by a quarterback and the year before he rushed for 477. He set a CWU record by throwing for five touchdowns in three consecutive game. He also set a CWU record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 118 against Humboldt State. His 67.3 completion percentage was the second best single season mark in school history.
Parma head coach Andrew Papoccia:
“We had wanted to find a player with exactly with these qualities, combining the abilities to throw and run, and who would not back down and who would be a true team leader. It seems like we have found him.”
Hennessey is filling the void left by the retiring Tommaso Monardi who has led the Panthers for eight seasons.
