Quarterback TJ Pryor has returned for his third season with the Italian Bowl champion Milano Rhinos.
The 6’2″, 200 lb Louisville, Kentucky native from Eastern Kentucky University (NCAA Div. I FCS), was a key to the Rhinos undefeated season in 2016. Under the tutelage of legendary coach Chris Ault, father of the Pistol Offense, Pryor ran the offense seamlessly, helping Milano to a perfect 13-0 season.
American Football International asked TJ about returning to Italy.
American Football International: Can you tell us a little bit about how you came to sign with the Rhinos again?
TJ Pryor: Signing with the Rhinos again was a blessing. Having the opportunity to continue my professional career another year with this great program is a blessing . The Rhinos gave me another chance to show Italy and the entire world of American football my talents .
AFI: Before a few years ago, did you know anything about American football in Italy or Europe?
Pryor: I had no idea about American football in Italy or Europe. I am very thankful I was contacting in 2014 about American Football in Europe. This journey around Europe has been the best time of my life. Meeting new people and gaining friends I will have for the rest of my life. I consider the Rhinos my family.
AFI: What are you looking forward to about returning to Italy?
Pryor: I’m looking forward to seeing how the team looks when I get back. I know they have been working really hard this off season.. and the food !!!
AFI: What do you think you can bring to the Rhinos in 2017?
Pryor: I think I can bring great leadership to the Rhinos. Push the team to be work hard everyday and play there best.
AFI: Also, now that you have played in Europe, what is your impression on the growth of American football outside of the U.S.?
Pryor: I feel like the American football outside of the US is getting better and better each year. The athletes are learning more about the game and are getting more athletic. It has a lot more work to do. But I can see it to continue to grow each year.
