Last week the football community in Serbia lost another colleague and Touchdown-Europe lost a contributor with the passing of Kristina Fruža.
Off field, Kristina was the athletic director for the Angel Duchesses Novi Sad of Serbia, the very first women’s flag football team in the country, as well as the cornerback on the field. She was also one of TDEU’s contributors in the field of nutrition/health.
Kristina was studying to become a therapist, and she was one of the spokespeople at the #YoureNotAlone campaign, helping others by sharing her experience of dealing with a mental illness, in suicide prevention.
However, she lost the battle to her own inside demons. She was battling bipolar disorder, however, and that was a battle she ultimately lost.
She was known for her positivity, charisma, hard work and dedication.
Coaches.. Players.. Take a look around you. Make sure that the person standing next to you is alright. Any kind of mental illness is not to be taken for granted. Seek professional help immediately.
Our deepest condolences to her family and friends.
