The II Copa America de Fútbol Americano Tournament Kicks Off This Weekend
Romania’s Cluj Crusaders with their Mexican head coach Rafel Ruiz, have landed in Mexico and will face a daunting task this coming week. They will play teams from four other nations in the second annual Copa America de Fútbol Americano Tournament.
A total of 10 teams from Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Romania will square off in Huixquilucan, Mexico. Divided into two groups of five teams each, the tournament will kick off January 31 and continue all next week finishing with the championship final on February 7.
Brazil is represented by the Botafogo Challengers, the GET Eagles Belo Horizonte and the Itapema White Sharks. The host country, Mexico, has two teams entered, the Heróico Cuerpo de Bomber Arena and the Leones from Anahuac. Two teams from Colombia are participating, the Titanes de Cali and the Yaks FC. And in addition to the Crusaders from Romania, the tournament features the Fútbol Americano Águilas from Peru.
The tournament has been organized by: the Unión Internacional para el Desarrollo del Fútbol Americano en Latinoamerica (UIDFAL) and is a continuation of Torneo Guerrero of Los Andes.
The draw for the Copa America de Fútbol Americano Tournament will take place on Saturday, January 30 with the games commencing Sunday, January 31.
