IFAF Elections: Meet the Candidates – Scott Hallenbeck (USA)
As the International Federation of American Football, IFAF, ushers in a new era with the election of a new board, it is only fitting that one of the mainstays of IFAF and football throughout the United States and the globe for the past decade and a half, Scott Hallenbeck, remains, as Vice President.
As Executive Director and CEO of USA Football, the sport’s national governing body, since 2005, and vice president of IFAF as well as a member of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Hallenbeck has been a driving force behind the enormous growth of football, both tackle and flag, throughout the world.
Under Hallenbeck’s leadership, USA Football has become the sport’s leader in youth football coaching education while supporting coaches at the high school level. More than 700,000 coach certifications have been completed through USA Football under Hallenbeck’s direction since 2012. This encompasses football coaches in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and 10 foreign countries across four continents. Hallenbeck leads the creation of USA Football innovations, spanning player, coach, game official, and parent education; third-party-endorsed practice guidelines; long-term athlete development; and U.S. National Teams in American Football.
USA Football has led more than 900 youth football clinics and events with the NFL, its teams, college conferences and college bowl games since 2010. Under Hallenbeck’s direction, USA Football has conducted more than 900 youth football clinics and events with the NFL, its teams, college conferences and college bowl games since 2010USA Football. It has also operated the NFL Flag program from 2011 to 2019, increasing the number of girls and boys playing NFL Flag during this time by more than 200 percent, from less than 150,000 players to more than 500,000. From a performance perspective, USA Football has achieved success within both the domestic and international arenas, building a systemic high performance and national team program for elite men, women, and youth players that has led to several World Champion teams for Team USA’s Men and Women.
