IFAF 2019 U19 European Championships final overall offensive leaders
The final day of the IFAF 2019 U19 European Championships tournament saw some spectacular individual performances producing three new names at the top of each of the offensive categories.
Italy surprised with a solid win over Norway to capture seventh place with quarterback Davide Rossi as one of the key factors. He took over top spot on the passing yardage list. His teammate and favorite target, Adalberto Rinaldi had another outstanding day receiving and finished as the leading receiver for the tournament. The French running game was on full display in Team France’s win over Denmark with Redval Keita leading the way. He finished as the overall rushing leader over the three days of the tournament.
Passing
Italy’s Davide Rossi took over top spot in the overall passing category with a 275 yard passing day against Norway giving him 656 yards for the tournament. Yannik Gruner from Austria fell to second on the final day of the tournament despite throwing for 215 yards in the gold medal win over Sweden. Gruner was named Tournament MVP and finished with 580 yards. Team Sweden quarterback Viktor Ekberg remained third with 324 yards while David De Diego of Team Spain held onto fourth place winding up with 296 yards. Raymond Myhrer from Norway remained fifth on the list with 290 yards passing.
Rushing
Redval Keita from France leapfrogged all the way up to first on the rushing list after a monster day against Denmark when he rushed for 142 yards. He wound up with 249 yards while his teammate, Yanis Polin finished the tournament with 177 yards after almost matching him in the final game rushing for 135 yards in the win over Denmark. Spain’s Miguel Quince finished with 169 yards, good for third while Austria’s Lukas Haslwanter finished fourth with 167 yards. His teammate, Johannes Schutz, climbed up onto the list after finishing with 161 yards in three games.
Receiving
Adalberto Rinaldi from Italy had 104 yards receiving against Norway and jumped up into the receiving yardage lead finishing with 290 yards for the tournament. Austria’s Noah Toure had just one catch for 75 yards against Sweden on the final day of the tournament and he wound up second with 230 yards. Spanish receiver, Matias Castagno climbed up from fifth to third finishing with 185 yards while Swedish WR Victor Wikstrom slid down to fourth with 170 yards. Fellow Swede, Alexander Nexic, dropped to fifth finishing the tournament with 133 yards.
