Hurts Has Super Bowl Winning Potential

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has come on leaps and bounds since last season and the Texan is showing plenty of the qualities needed to become a Super Bowl champion.

Whether or not the Eagles can go all the way this term remains to be seen but there is potential in Hurts that will have the City of Brotherly Love excited about what the future holds for their beloved team.

Breaking New Ground In Philly

Guiding the Eagles to their first-ever 8-0 start to an NFL season, Hurts has helped Philadelphia raise a few eyebrows with their start to the campaign. Considered rank outsiders before the ball was kicked or thrown, Philadelphia has put themselves in contention for the Super Bowl title this season.

Unsurprisingly, millions of viewers will be keeping an eye on how the Eagles fare in the NFL this term. According to ExpressVPN’s streaming stats, no sport in the US has more streaming interest than football, with basketball second and soccer in third. Many of those viewers will have seen the progress the Eagles have made under head coach Nick Sirianni, who has made Philly one of the teams to beat in the NFC. A team with in-form stars in offense and defense, the Eagles have become Super Bowl contenders.

It could have been all so different had Philadelphia failed to win their opening game of the season against the Detroit Lions. The Eagles showed the grit and determination needed to fall on the right side of a 38-35 scoreline in Michigan to get the ball rolling on the new campaign. Narrow wins on the road have been somewhat of a theme for Philly this term but that will hold Hurts and the team in good stead going forward.

Hurts A Nightmare For Defensive Coaches

With his ability not just in the air but on the ground too, Hurts has been making plays this season that will have kept defensive coaches up at night. The 24-year-old, who is still a relative newcomer to the NFL, threw 15 touchdown passes in his first 10 outings of the season. In that same spell, where he threw for 2,407 yards, Hurts had also run in the most touchdowns for Philadelphia with eight in total. The University of Oklahoma quarterback’s ability to drive in from close range has made him a real threat in the red zone.

Hurts’ temperament has also caught the attention of many, particularly his coolness under pressure. Not much seems to phase him, even though he lacks the experience of many other quarterbacks in the NFL. When the Eagles were flying at 8-0, Hurts was refusing to get carried away. When their winning run came to an end against the Washington Redskins, he wasn’t one to get too downhearted.

Hurts has shown he has the ability and the mental strength to bring success to Lincoln Financial Field. Nobody expected the Eagles to win Super Bowl LII in the 2017 NFL season and Philadelphia would be happy to be underdogs for the remainder of the campaign. It clearly worked for them in the past and, with Hurts at the helm, it could work for the Eagles in the future.
