The Amsterdam Crusaders have added the final piece to the puzzle with the signing of quarterback Keith “Keke” Ray.
Ray, 5’11”, 195 lb, is a native of Happy Hills, Alabama, and spent the 2016 season with the Tychy Falcons in the Polish second division. He helped the Falcons to an undefeated season throwing for 2,500 yards and 38 touchdowns while rushing for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns, guiding the most prolific offense in Poland. The Falcons averaged almost 60 points a game in the eight game regular season.
After attending Concordia College Alabama (USCAA) where he led the Hornets to the conference championship, he played semi-pro football. Suiting up for the Apfl Blazers All-Star team in 2014, he helped them defeat one of Japan’s top teams, the Obic Seagulls in the Sister Cities Bowl.
Ray will be in the lineup in time for the Crusaders league game against the Arnhem Falcons March 12.
The Crusaders opened the regular season in Holland with a 43-0 win over the Groningen Giants. They also downed Germany’s Langenfeld Longhorns in an international friendly 31-7. The Big6 season kicks off for Amsterdam April 22 when they play host to Europe’s top team, the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions.
