The third round of the Hungarian Football League (HFL) kicks off this weekend with only one game: the Győr Sharks will host the Budapest Cowbells on Sunday.
Győr Sharks (0-2) – Budapest Cowbells (2-0) May 5
The Sharks did not open the season very well losing both their games to the Fehérvár Enthroners and Budapest Wolves and both in similar ways. The bad start to the games had an impact on the Sharks’ game. However, head coach Dustin Willingham is satisfied with the progress but mentioned that it is still slow. Offensively and defensively there is a lot of work to be done. With another loss the Sharks will be a long ways from the semi-finals and can only compete for a home field advantage in the wild card round.
Everything looks good for the Cowbells. After getting their second win, Troy Baker’s team looks to be on a good path. Quarterback Tamás Váry has taken a step up this season, playing with more confidence and it shows in the way the Cowbells offense has performed. He has built a good rapport with his receivers. The defense also seems very solid, just like two years ago, when the Cowbells won the Hungarian Bowl. But the next game will be very special for head coach Troy Baker who is heading back to the home of his former squad.
