[su_dropcap]A[/su_dropcap]s American Football fans, athletes, and coaches we understand the effect the sport can have on our lives and the lives of those we care about.
However, most of us are fortunate to live in parts of the world were we have to opportunity to pursue our American Football dreams in a relatively stable environment.
The subjects of this documentary have not, at least recently, had this same opportunity.
Please check out this clip on the GUC (German University of Cairo) Eagles and and see how American Football can bring people together in any kind of adversity! Below are some notable quotes pulled from the video at the bottom of the post.
“(We) are playing a sport that is capable of changing a culture. It’s not only about being aggressive or playing smart. It’s about discipline, which is one of the most important assets required to play the game. … your discipline on the field reflects your discipline off of it.” – Mostafa Yasser, athlete – GUC Eagles
“And even bigger, especially for me as an American, … is my family and friends back in the States. They see Egypt and they just see the bad news on TV, you know, they just see the revolution that has happened… so it would be cool if they could see something like this, some news like this out Egypt. It’s not normal, not common. It would a good story, it would be something that is different, that’s positive. I would love to see that happen for Egypt, because this is wonderful place and these are good people, and it would be a good way for us to move to the next step, … as a Egyptian football league.” – Caleb Elmo, coach – GUC Eagles
