Growth of a Game: Vienna Skills Camp returns to Austria
The Vienna Skills Camp returns to Austria for its second year from August 11th-12th, 2018.
The event, hosted by The Growth of a Game, will be led by Spencer Wood, head coach for the Belgian National Team. The camp will offer coaching from some of the very best coaches in Europe and will exceed 200 total players from all across the continent.
The Growth of a Game is committed to facilitating the development of American football in Europe. In alignment to its primary mission, it organizes camps all across Europe to provide quality training to players and coaches looking to improve their skill level.
OVERVIEW
The Growth of a Game will host its 2nd annual American football camp in Austria, in collaboration with the Danube Dragons, on August 11th-12th, 2018 in Vienna.
The Vienna Skills Camp is an annual camp with the intent to improve the level of players and coaches from around the region. Players and coaches from all across Europe will visit Vienna for the camp.
The Growth of a Game Vienna Skills Camp will be led by several of the top coaches in Europe, including Spencer Wood, head coach of the Belgian National Team; Stefan Pokorny, head coach for the Danube Dragons in Austria; Istvan Kovacs, head coach of the Budapest Wolves in Hungary; Lukas Habersack, co-defensive coordinator for the Danube Dragons in Austria; Mike Brown, defensive coordinator for the Gießen Golden Dragons in Germany; Tom Hohenwarter, offensive line coach for the Carinthian Lions in Austria; Daniel Aubock, co-defensive coordinator for the Vienna Vikings II in Austria; Ben Sobotka, co-defensive coordinator for the Vienna Vikings in Austria; and Jason Robert South, former defensive lineman for the Leipzig Lions.
The camp will focus on skill development for all players 15 and over. Players of all positions are welcome and a maximum of 250 camp roster spots are available. In addition to player development, the coaching staff will also be providing instruction to beginner and intermediate coaches in the form of on-field work. Players and coaches from as many as 15 countries will be present.
BSFZ Südstadt is the preferred accommodation for the camp and is located at the sports facility. Reservations for the BSFZ Südstadt can be made directly via the sign-up page. Accommodation includes 6 meals and a bed from Friday through Sunday in a 2-bed room. Players and coaches have the choice to skip accommodation if it is not needed. Player fees for the 2-day camp are €99, while coaches fees are €49. Teams can sign up unlimited players and coaches for €1,000.
Camp t-shirts will be included in the sign-up cost for players and will be provided during registration. Players will wear t-shirts, shorts, and football cleats – no shoulder pads or helmets.
Vienna, one of the most beautiful and accessible cities in Europe, is also an epicenter for American football. The camp gives players and coaches an opportunity to be around some of the top competition in European football.
