The Berlin Rebels of the German Football League have signed their quarterback for the 2023 season in Connor Kaegi.
Kaegi is a former standout at Ottawa University (NAIA) and now will hopes to lead the German capital city Rebels to a championship in 2023.
Kaegi, 28, had a standout season in 2019 for Ottawa University throwing for 2,639 yards 26 touchdowns with a 58% completion percentage, while only throwing seven interceptions. The season prior he threw for 1,956 yards and 25 touchdowns earning All Conference honors both seasons. In two seasons behind center, Kaegi amassed 4,595 passing yards, 62 total touchdowns and only 16 interceptions.
The 6’7″, 225 pound passer is a natural athlete who played both football and basketball at Arizona Western College (JUCO) before transferring to Ottawa. Needless to say, that athleticism was on display at his pro day in 2020. Prior to transferring to Arizona Western College Kaegi spent his first college season playing football at the University of Montana.
Since his college days, Kaegi has suited up for the Jacksonville Sharks in the Indoor football League as well as the Spring League’s Blues. In 2022, Kaegi signed with the Ohio Force of Major League Football however the league folded before the first game.
Kaegi joins several European football veterans in Berlin, including head coach Douglas Fryor, DC Jag Bal, athlete Paul Morant, lineman Sven Skora, and safety Robby Kendall.
