The Hildesheim Invaders of the German Football League, bolstered their defensive secondary with the signing of defensive back Ronnie Hicks.
The 6′, 185 lb, 24 year old Hicks, a native of San Diego, California, is a graduate of Humboldt State (NCAA Div. II) where he was a three-year starter (2011-2015) and recorded 78 tackles. He spent the 2017 season with the Stuttgart Scorpions grabbing three interceptions. In 2016, he played with the Grenoble Centaures in France.
In new defensive coordinator Dwight Patrick’s system, huge emphasis is on “two-way players”, players who can be used in multiple positions. This makes Hicks perfect for this system as he can play both cornerback and safety.
The Invaders suffered through a 3-11 season in 2017, finishing seventh in the GFL North division with a pass defense ranked 14th out of the 16 teams.
