With most of the teams in the German Football League in a hiatus until August 4, let’s take a look at the Top 9 Plays of the Week from the final full weekend of play.
Defenses are highlighted in this round with four interceptions among the nine plays featured including three pick sixes.
Stuttgart Scorpions Colin Barrier leads off picking off a pass from Kirchdorf Wildcats QB Cameron Birse and returning it 40 yards. Next up is Tucker Stanley of the Cologne Crocodiles who intercepted a pass from Braunschweig New Yorker Lions QB Jadian Clark and returned it 62 yards for a TD.
Ingolstadt Dukes RB Lars Kozlowski rumbled 25 yards and literally plowed his way into the end zone for a touchdown against the Munich Cowboys. The German Football League’s top receiver, Mitchell Paige hauled in a punt from the Hamburg Huskies at his own 35 yard line and returned it all the way for a touchdown.
Munich Cowboys leading receiver Kai Silbermann caught an 11 yard pass from Trenton Miller against the Ingolstadt Dukes and rambled another 20 yards. In Hildesheim, Invaders QB Tyler Johnson broke away from a tackle and dropped the ball, picked it up, rolled right and throwing across his body completed a 20 yard pass to Christian Fette.
Frankfurt Universe defensive back Kweishi Brown showed off his catching skills picking off a Justin Sottilare pass and returning it 40 yards for a touchdown en route to a 66-7 pasting of the Allgau Comets.
Braunschweig New Yorker Lions QB Jadrian Clark returns on the positive end of a highlight with a 22 yard pass to Nicolai Schumann who bulled his way down to the five yard line against the Cologne Crocodiles.
Finally, Quentin Williams of the Hamburg Huskies stepped in front of Dresden Monarchs WR Brice Coquin and intercepted a Trenton Norvell pass returning it all the way to the end zone for a 50 yard pick six.
