Germany: Ravensburg Razorbacks re-sign RB Lennies McFerren
In the German Football League, the Ravensburg Razorbacks re-signed running back Lennies McFerren.
The 5’9″, 218-pound native of Paris, Tennessee is returning for his fourth season with Ravensburg. Since re-joining the team in 2021 (where he played in 2017), McFerren has amassed 1,122 all-purpose and 23 touchdowns on 286 attempts.
The 32-year old running back continued his play from the previous year, rushing for a team high 462 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 46.2 yards per game, carrying the team’s rushing production.
Before he started his professional career, McFerren was a dual-threat for Missouri State University (Div. I) from 2011-2015. His career was highlighted by his senior season where he rushed for over 700 yards, scored four touchdowns and averaged 5.6 yards per game. There were a couple of plays where he was used as a receiver too, catching eight passes for 90 yards in the season.
In 2016, McFerren started his career in the pros playing for the River City Raiders, rushing for 150 yards and scored four touchdowns. The next year, he began his career overseas with the Ravensburg Razorbacks, who back then were in the lower leveled GFL2. He burst on the scene in Germany, rushing for 2238 all purpose yards, 186.5 yards per game and 26 total touchdowns.
In 2018, he signed with the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions who were trying to get to their sixth straight German Bowl appearance. In seven games, McFerren rushed for 412 yards and five touchdowns, while the Lions lost in the semifinals to the Frankfurt Galaxy.
The following year, 2019 came with more responsibilities for McFerren as when he signed with the Allgäu Comets he was also the team’s assistant running back coach. He also had a bounce back season with 794 yards and eight touchdowns.
