Germany: Munich Cowboys add veteran WR RJ Long
The Munich Cowboys of the German Football League have added wide receiver RJ Long for the 2020 season.
Long, a 6’2″, 210 pound native of Corpus Christ, Texas, is a true veteran of American football in Europe and since leaving McMurry University (NCAA Div. III) after a stellar career, has played for the Helsinki Wolverines (2019) in Finland, Solingen Paladins in Germany, Wasa Royals (Finland, 2016, 2017), Bialystok Lowlanders (Poland, 2016), and the Helsinki 69ers (2015, 2014) also Finland.
In six seasons, he has been one of the most prolific receivers in Europe, amassing almost 6,500 yards receiving, while catching 79 touchdown passes.
For the Wolverines in 2019, Long was superb, helping the team to the Finnish semifinals catching 72 passes for 1,053 yards and 11 touchdowns. For the Paladins, he caught 29 passes for 482 yards and in his two seasons with the Wasa Royals he had 2,018 yards receiving over two seasons while catching 24 touchdown passes., helping the Royals to the semifinals in 2016 and the Finnish championship game in 2017. He was the top receiver in Poland with the Lowlanders catching 41 passes for 652 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games. In his two seasons with the 69ers, he had 2,195 yards receiving on 108 receptions, scoring 34 touchdowns.
At McMurry, he finished with 2,251 yards in his three seasons hauling in 147 passes.
