The Marburg Mercenaries, Europe #19, have signed quarterback Robert Webber from Humboldt State (NCAA Div. II – Great Northwest Athletic Conference).
The 5’9″, 180 lb Webber, a native of Corona, California, enjoyed an outstanding senior year in 2017 throwing for 2,894 yards and 28 touchdowns in 10 games, completing 68.8% of his passes. He led the Jacks to an 8-2 record. During his four years at Humboldt State, he started all 43 games, amassing 10,611 yards passing and 97 touchdowns. He holds school records for passing yards in a game (502) set in 2016 against Western Oregon, passing yards in a season (3,270 – 2016), completions in a game (44) against Western Oregon in 2016 and in a season (274) in 2016. He was named GNAC all-conference quarterback in 2017. His overall record was 32-11.
Webber replaces Alexander Thury who was injured two games ago.
According to Marburg president Carsten Dalkowski, the decision to sign Webber did not take long:
“He was a great player in college and after discussions with the scouting staff, we wanted to get him here as fast as possible to get familiar with the playbook. We are really happy with how quickly he has picked thing up.”

The Mercenaries are coming off a huge upset 28-14 win over the Allgau Comets, playing without Thury. Running back Silas Nacita stepped up in that game throwing for 178 yards and three touchdowns and scoring one touchdown himself while rushing for 111 yards.
