Reigning German Football League champions, the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions have bolstered their defense with the signing of defensive back Tyren Quinn from the University of Kentucky Wildcats (NCAA Div. I, SEC, FBS).
The 5’10”, 185 pound, 25-year-old Quinn, a native of Middletown, Ohio spent the 2019 season playing for the Kyiv Capitals in the Ukraine. In his four seasons at Kentucky, he amassed 106 tackles playing in the tough SEC, facing team like Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. At his Pro Day he clocked a 4.38 40 and was invited to rookie camp by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Quinn first arrived in Europe in 2018, playing for the UTA Angels Pesaro in Italy’s Div. 1 where he finished with 30 tackles, three interceptions, seven breakups and 10 passes defended. He headed to Australia after that, playing for the Swan City Titans, helping them to capture the Western Australian title, defeating the Rockingham Vipers in Westbowl XXIV.
Braunschweig New Yorker Lions defensive coordinator Dave Likins:
” Excellent player and a nice young man. I coached at Kentucky when I was a young man. In the early years here we had a lot of players from UK so it’s nice to get that going again. He is pretty fast. He was doing a good job of covering those receivers from Florida, Georgia and other top schools.”
