Germany: Berlin Rebels sign top RB Andreas Betza
The Berlin Rebels have signed one of the premier running backs in Europe, Team France RB Andreas Betza, for the 2019 season.
The 5’8″, 185 lb native of Cameroon, Africa, who grew up in Avignon, France, is currently playing for the Grenoble Centaures in France but will join the Rebels for the German Football League season.
In 2018, he led the Frankfurt Universe in rushing with 738 yards (10th in the German Football League), helping the team reach the German Bowl. In 2017, Betza led the French league in rushing with 1,211 yards and 21 TDs while playing for the Thonon Black Panthers, and was a key factor in the team’s run to the French championship game. In 2016, he scored six touchdowns in the Serbian championship game, leading his team, the Kragujevac Wild Boars to the Serbian title.
Betza has been a mainstay on the French national team since 2011, missing only a few games in eight years.
“I decided for the Rebels on recommendation of one of my coaches, and also some of my french teammates, Mamadou Sy and Valentin Gnahoua, who have already played for the Berlin Rebels and still play for them. I also like this team cause they have strong Offensive Line and they run the ball a lot. I love that! I have been at Berlin only one time! It was in October 2018 to play the German Bowl with my last team Frankfort Universe. So im really happy to come back to Berlin and play for this big team! And for sure I´m also happy to live at the capital of Germany. Plus: some people tell me that Berlin has the best chicken of Germany. I need to try 😉 This is also a good reason for me to come to Berlin”
