According to NFL Draft Diamonds, Kiel Baltic Hurricanes star Tyler Davis has signed a deal with the NFL Miami Dolphins.
Davis had a workout with the Dolphins in mid-December and it seems as if Miami liked what they saw as the team has signed the versatile Davis to a contract. This may make him the first player to jump straight from the German Football League to sign with an NFL team.
The former Missouri Valley College standout has enjoyed two superb seasons playing for both the Munich Cowboys and the Hurricanes. In 2015 with Kiel he had 1,733 yards receiving on 94 receptions scoring 24 touchdowns. Davis averaged 133.3 yards a game in Germany this past season averaging 18.4 yards a reception. He also led his defense with 6 interceptions this year.
After finishing at Missouri Valley College where he was an NAIA All American, Davis had a tryout with the St. Louis Rams. He was told he needed more game film so after tryouts with teams in the Arena Football League and the Canadian Football League Davis opted for the Munich Cowboys of the German Football League.
The contract Davis signed with the Dolphins is for three years and he heads down to Miami from his home in Missouri in April to join the team.
Davis is following in his father’s footsteps as the second player in the family to play in the NFL. Clarence Davis played running back for the Oakland Raiders from 1971 to 1978 after graduating from the University of Southern California.
