German Football League features 3 games this weekend
The German Football League heads into Week 2 with only three games on tap after an action filled opening of weekend of play.
In the GFL North, the Berlin Rebels (1-0) took a hard-earned victory last week, beating crosstown rivals, the Berlin Adler, 21-13 and this week they will play the GFL South’s Marburg Mercenaries (0-1) who were embarrassed last week by the Dresden Monarchs (GFL North) 59-6. The Braunschweig New Yorker Lions (1-0) from the GFL North were also winners against a southern division rival as they blanked the Straubing Spiders 34-0. This week they take on the newcomers to the GFL North, the Paderborn Dolphins (1-0) who opened with a 33-29 win over the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes. Finally, in an all GFL South clash, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (0-1) who suffered their first loss since 2021 when they were beaten 44-30 by the Potsdam Royals, will travel to Ingolstadt to face the Ingolstadt Dukes (1-0) who were easy 52-20 winners over the Ravensburg Razorbacks.
Marburg Mercenaries (0-1) @ Berlin Rebels (1-0)
The Berlin Rebels are playing a regular season game against a GFL South team for the first time in their history in the GFL North when they take on the GFL South division’s Marburg Mercenaries. The Rebels looked solid in their win over the Adler, especially on defense when they held the Adler to one touchdown per half. The Mercenaries on the other hand, will need to find a way to improve after giving up 515 yards of offense and 52 points while amassing only 151 yards and six points.

Paderborn Dolphins (1-0) @ Braunschweig New Yorker Lions (1-0)
The Paderborn Dolphins hope to extend their win streak beyond one game in the GFL North after their solid opening day win over Kiel. However, this is a Braunschweig team back in the hunt and playing at home.

Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (0-1) @ Ingolstadt Dukes (1-0)
The Ingolstadt Dukes will be looking for their first ever win against the defending champion Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. The last time these two teams met, in 2019, the Dukes were beaten 51-0 and dropped out of the top league for two seasons before returning this year. The Unicorns, a totally different team from their championship season last year, will be hoping to rebound from their 44-30 loss last week to Potsdam.
