The New Yorker Lions of the German Football League has signed defensive back Adehkeem Brown. Brown, a veteran of German football, initially re-signed to the Potsdam Royals this off-season, before the rival Lions lured him away from their GFL North opponents.
The 5’10 190-pound St. Louis, Missouri native played nine games for Potsdam last season making 18 tackles, two for loss, 16 pass deflections, one forced fumble, and two interceptions. Brown was pivotal in the Royals playoff run that narrowly ended in the semi-finals.
Brown began his international career in Italy, playing for the Torino Giaguari. In eight games, he had 21 tackles, 10 pass deflections, and made one interception. While in Italy, Brown was noticed by the Italy friendly Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns coaching staff and was promptly signed mid-season. Fitting in with the German powerhouse quickly, Brown made 13 tackles and deflected six passes as the Unicorns made it to the 2019 German Bowl.
Prior to coming to Europe, The 26-year-old was a Division II All-American at Quincy University. During his collegiate career, he made 10 interceptions and 111 tackles, earning All-Star game spots for the Dream bowl and the National Bowl in 2018.
The New Yorker Lions have had an active off-season picking up Brown and several other new players including running back Emmanuel Abedi-Bawa (UK), offensive lineman Daniel Kane (UK), and german defensive lineman Georg Kraft (Berlin Adler). There is no doubt that coach Troy Tomlin and the Lions look to get back to the German Bowl after an uncharacteristic year last season.
