The full college football schedule was back in Mexico last weekend following the postponement of a large number due to the devastating earthquakes which struck Mexico. Both the ONEFA – Organización Nacional Estudiantil de Futbol Americano (National Student Organization of American Football) – league and CONADEIP, Comisión Nacional Deportiva Estudiantil de Instituciones Privadas, A.C. (private university league),were in action.
After the suspension of most of the games as teams pitched in to help in the aftermath of the earthquakes, there were displays of unity at all the national football games.
The action began Friday afternoon, when the Pumas UNAM Acatlán, hosted the Toros Salvajes of the UACH and both teams entered the field together, united.
The Los Pumas Acatlán took the lead early and held it forcing the Toros, to make a quarterback switch. It did not help as the Pumas won easily 35-6.
The best game of the week was staged by the UVM Linces who received the Burros Blancos of the IPN, game that was decided until the last play, when the Linces missed a field goal of 37 yards that would have forced overtime. The Burros got their third consecutive win, 20-17, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the Green Conference.
