LIVE STREAM: France Semi-Final – Rouen Leopards v. La Courneuve Flash (7p CEST, 1p EDT)
Saturday, France’s FFFA Elite championship semi-finals begin outside of Paris at Stade Geo Andre, the home field for France’s top team, the Flash de la Courneuve.
The Flash will host the Rouen Leopards, a club that are making their first ever post-season appearance in the Elite league. The Flash (9-1) are heavily favored and topped the Leopards in each of the teams’ regular season meetings. However, Rouen (5-5) boasts France’s most prolific passing offense led by American quarterback Connor Reilly. Reilly has thrown for 2,707 yards and 31 touchdowns and has found favorite target in receiver Oktay Tulan.
Not to be over-matched the Flash have France’s national team quarterback Paul Durand leading their well-rounded offense. Durand’s favorite targets Mickael Doukoure and Stephane Fortes are the top two receivers in the nation.
The Flash’s strengths include their offensive line and a talented running back. They will ensure that their attack will remain on the field as long as possible each drive.
Flash General Manager Bruno Lacam-Caron likes his team’s odds.
“We think we have 80% chance of victory against the Leopards‘,” said Lacam-Caron. We have prepared this semi-final very seriously, based on the two games that we have already played against them, but especially on their last games where they dominated the Argonautes and Gladiateurs.
We’ve worked hard on our defensive coverage system and the means to put pressure on their quarterback. Offensively, a good balance between a precise passing game and a powerful running game should allow us to control the clock.”
In order to win this game, we must above all not turn the ball over (fumbles and interceptions) and remain concentrated from beginning to end, regardless of the evolution of the score.”
