The 2016 French champion Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône Cougars have started their rebuilding campaign after a mediocre season in 2017 by signing quarterback Jordan Gehrke from the University of Colorado.

The 6’1″, 200 lb Gehrke, a native of Scottsdale, Arizona, played for three years at Colorado seeing action in 10 games at quarterback, including three in 2016, his final season. Before redshirting at Colorado, he played his first year of college football at Scottsdale Community College where he finished his season with 2,388 yards passing and 22 touchdowns, including seven in the final game against Phoenix College. He was number one in the country in average yards passing per game (355.2).

The Cougars had been a midseason title contender until the sudden departure of quarterback DeAuntre Smiley who was leading the French league in passing at the time. Smiley was forced to return to the United States for personal reasons.

Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône finished the regular season with a 5-5 record and out of the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
