Former Michigan WR Ricardo Miller signs with Germany’s Saarland Hurricanes

The Saarland Hurricanes have added explosion and definite high profile in snagging former University of Michigan Wolverine Ricardo Miller, adding him to the lineup for the remainder of the 2017 German Football League season.

The 6’4″, 225 lb Miller spent 2016 with Sweden’s Uppsala 86ers, where he enjoyed an outstanding season, teaming up with Kiel Baltic Hurricane quarterback Jared Stegman, helping Uppsala reach the championship game. He led the Swedish league in receptions with 54 for 660 yards, averaging 12 yards a catch.

Saarland is currently in fifth spot in the German Football League’s South division with a 2-6 record.

Saarland head coach Felix Motzki was understandably happy:

“Ricardo Miller fits the bill for the Saarland Hurricanes offense, which was in search of a physical wide receiver who could blow the top off of coverages and create mismatches underneath by aligning up at different spots in the formation.”

Offensive coordinator Tyler Reese:

“We went after Ricardo pretty hard because he is exactly what we needed in terms of a guy that can beat one on one coverage, adds a deep threat with speed and overpower smaller defensive backs on the goal line and off the edge.”

Miller’s 4.4 speed will definitely stretch defenses.

He played his high school football in Florida and Michigan and was the nation’s 27th best receiver and a four-star prospect in his senior year. After committing to Michigan early, Ricardo went on to play through his junior season as a Wolverine. He won his first letter as a sophomore, where he played as an H-Back and special teams returner in eight games, helping Michigan to win the Sugar Bowl.

After appearing in five games a junior and receiving Academic All Big-10 honors at the same position, he transferred to the University of Massachusetts where he completed his college career in 2013 to see more time at wide receiver.

Miller:

” I look forward t o being a great addition to a already great Saarland Hurricanes team, helping us become a playoff bound team and more.”
