The Dacia Vienna Vikings knew they had something special in 2018 when they signed wide receiver Reece Horn who was fresh off winning an Italian championship with the Milano Seamen. Now Memphis Express head coach Mike Singletary is discovering what it was.
The 6’3″, 215 lb receiver from Indianapolis, Indiana, has become a key factor in the Express’ resurgence and now leads the team in receiving yards with 429, and is the fourth leading receiver in the Alliance of American Football.
Horn, who had 771 yards receiving and 16 touchdowns for the Vikings in 2018 and 638 yards in seven games for Italy’s Milano Seamen the year before, has become the go-to guy for Memphis quarterback Brandon Silvers.
“It goes back to minicamp. He’s been with me since then. I know Reece very well and I know I can count on him.”
The way Silvers and Horn are connecting, there is still hope for Memphis (2-5) to make the playoffs.
Horn was a key factor in the Express’ crucial come-from-behind 31-25 win over the Birmingham Iron this past weekend. He finished the game with seven catches for 113 yards and a touchdown, making it his second straight +100 yard receiving game, and added a 35 yard punt return.
A graduate of the University of Indianapolis (NCAA Div. II), Horn set single-season and career records for receptions (272) and receiving yards (3,562) while racking up 108 catches for 1,396 yards in 2015, another school record. He was named an AFCA All American in 2015 as well.
