With the Portuguese season already underway as well as the season in Israel, several other countries in Europe will kick off their seasons soon.
Spain
Next up is Spain which kicks off its season on January 23. The defending champion Valencia Firebats will take on their crosstown rivals, the Valencia Giants, in that first matchup. Look for a full preview of the Spanish season next week here in AFI as well as a feature on a major coaching move in that country.
France
The French top division starts its season on the weekend of February 6-7 when the defending champion Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône Cougars host the always dangerous La Courneuve Flash.
Turkey
The Turkish top division also starts its 2016 season February 6-7 with three games.
Belgium
Belgium heads into the 2016 season with a pared-own schedule and only four teams in the top division. The Ghent Gators, winners of the league title in 2014, will host the 2015 champion Brussels Black Angels on February 14.
Italy
The Italian Football League (IFL) season kicks off March 5 with a full slate of six games. The defending champion Milano Seamen open their 2016 season on the road against the Torino Giaguari.
Denmark
The DAFF’s Danish (Dansk Amerikansk Fodbold Forbund) season gets going this year on April 2.
Czech Republic
The CAAF (Česká Asociace Amerického Fotbalu) 1st division begins on April 2.
Austria/Germany
Austria heads into its 2016 season on March 26 while the German GFL kicks off April 16.
IFAF Europe Champions League
The IFAF Europe Champions League season enters its third year on April 16 as well with a full schedule.
