Finland: United Newland Crusaders bring back RB Kam Harris for 2021 season
The United Newland Crusaders have re-signed running back Kam Harris for the 2021 Maple League season in Finland.
The East Saint Louis, Illinois native played five games for the Crusaders in 2019 and re-signed again in 2020 before the Finnish Div. 2 season was canceled due to the pandemic.
While playing for the Crusaders in 2019, in five games he rushed for 603 yards (5.9 yards/carry). He finished the season that year with the Rostock Griffins in the GFL2 (German 2nd division) where also in five games he rushed for 705 yards on 98 carries while scoring four touchdowns. Harris spent the 2018 season playing for the Helsinki Wolverines in Finland’s second division where, paired up with current Crusaders quarterback Robert Johnson who was the Wolverines quarterback and offensive coordinator at the time, he helped the Wolverines win the division title, rushing for 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns.
The 26 year old, 5’10”, 212 pound Harris graduated from Lindenwood University Belleville (Illinois) after a four year career at the school which saw him rush for 4,031 yards and 42 touchdowns. He was an NAIA Second Team All American and a Lynx team captain for three years.
The Crusaders are competing in the Maple League, Finland’s top tier of football, for the first time.
