Finland: Seinäjoki Crocodiles finally come to terms with top WR Nate Robitaille
The Seinäjoki Crocodiles have been busy preparing for the shortened Finnish Maple League season and in the process have come to terms with one of Europe’s leading receivers, Nate Robitaille.
Although there was some media speculation, the deal did not get finalized until July 24.
The Crocodiles open their season against the Helsinki Wolverines on July 30.
For the past three years, the 6’1″, 195 pound Robitaille has been a key member of the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and helped the team to back-to-back German championships (2017, 2018).
The 27 year old native of Attleboro, Massachusetts has played for the Unicorns for the past three seasons accumulating 3,597 yards in pass receiving scoring 57 touchdowns in the process. He was third in the GFL in pass reception yardage in 2017 and 2019 and fourth overall in All-Purpose yardage in both those years (2,005/2019, 2,171/2017). He started his career in Europe with the Frankfurt Universe in 2016 catching 23 passes for 577 yards and nine touchdowns.
Robitaille was a three year starter at Stonehill College (NCAA Div. II) in Easton, Massachusetts. As a three-year starter (2012, 2013, 2014) he amassed 2,739 yards on 196 receptions catching 25 touchdown passes. He also had 3,557 yards in all purpose yardage.
Crocodiles head coach Samu Juppo:
“I’m really happy to have Nate on our team. He is another multi-talented athlete on our team. We just have to find out the ways ti figure out how he can help out the team most. For sure we are going to see him on both sides of the ball.”
