The Helsinki Wolverines have announced the signing of Belgian wide receiver Martin Emos for the 2022 Maple League season in Finland.
Emos will replace the previously released Clinton Allen, who is remain in the United States for family reasons.
The 6’3″, 205 pound, 27-year-old Emos from Brussels, Belgium spent part of the 2021 season with the Barcelona Dragons of the European League of Football. Before missing the 2020 season due to the pandemic, Emos spent four seasons in the German Football League. While playing for the Dresden Monarchs (2019) and Allgäu Comets (2018), he hauled in 113 passes for 1,451 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Emos was also invited to the 2019 NFL International Pathway Program Combine.
In 2017, he played for the Cologne Crocodiles of the GFL and in 2016 for the Dusseldorf Panther.
Wolverines head coach Michael Mattingly is pleased with his new playmaker:
“Martin as a talented player, and a big addition to our team. It is regrettable that Clinton was unable to join us because of what happened back home, but with the Martin, we have filled the gap left by Clinton quickly. We will see Martin in Helsinki in a few weeks.”
Emos is pretty clear about why he signed with Helsinki:
“I got a chance I couldn’t refuse. In recent years, they’ve come a long way in the semifinals. I wanted to be part of a team with a real chance of winning the championship.
