The Costa Daurada Gladiators of the European League of Football, ELF, have announced the signing of Patrick Wennin as their new running back coach.
The 26 year old native of Miami, Florida, who attended Florida International University where he obtained a degree in Sport Management, played running back for Maryville College (NCAA Div. III) but a series of knee injuries cut his playing career short.
Wennin is enthusiastic about the opportunity to coach with the Gladiators:
“Football is my passion. I’m blessed and grateful for this opportunity of bringing my love for the game and my energy to European football and especially to the Gladiators organization”.
Once his playing days were over, Wennin turned to coaching, joining his high school alma mater, Westminster Christian School in Miami where he stayed in various capacities. He wound up as co-offensive coordinator and in 2019 he moved to Immaculata La Salle as offensive coordinator where his team averaged over 400 yards of offense per game. In 2020, he went to powerhouse Miami Palmetto, one of the top three football high schools in Florida. At Palmetto, he coached four running backs who went on to Division I schools on a team with five All American players.
Gladiators head coach Adam Rita:
“Coach Wennin will provide us with youth, energy and fresh thinking to our staff. I’m looking forward to working with him “
“Our coaching staff continues to take shape and has a new American figure who will provide energy. Patrick fits into that profile that we seek of young, energetic people, who perfectly complement the more veteran members of the staff that we also have. In addition, that energy will give us an ‘extra’.”
