The Barcelona Dragons of the European League of Football signed their fourth and final American players this week agreeing to terms with former division one defender Shawn Wilson. The former Oregon State (NCAA DI FBS) Beaver is thrilled to be taking his talents to Spain:
“I am happy and grateful that the Dragons have bet on me and given me the opportunity to play with them.” I really want the season to start and win games.”
The 5’9″, 195-pound cornerback spent five years with the Oregon State Beavers appearing in 42 games and making 27 starts. The Pomona, California native had a standout senior season in 2019 making 58 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, and one interception. Despite his size, Wilson was one of the Beavers’ most physical defenders during his time there, ending his career with 140 tackles and nine tackles for loss, 11 pass deflections and three interceptions. Following his senior year, he was invited to the NFLPA All-Star Bowl.

Wilson on what he brings to his new team in Barcelona:
“I’m excited to bring a different energy to this team and be a part of something fantastic. We’ll do great things this season and give a great show to the fans.”
Wilson joins veterans Nico Lester and Jordan Brugnani, and NCAA DIII All-American Jake O’Connell in the Dragons secondary. Barcelona, at least on paper, now has a talented defensive backfield that could line up confidently against most of the ELF.
