The Europe Warriors project, which brings together some of the best football talent in Europe to play international games, is is heading into its second year.
The brainchild of Jesús E. Sánchez from Mexico, current head coach of Osos Rivas (Madrid, Spain), the Warriors are again recruiting players for 2018.
In 2017, the Europe Warriors, with a 13 nation roster of 42 players who had been playing on teams from Europe, was formed by head coach Sanchez specifically for one game. In front of a crowd of 28,000 at the University Olympic Stadium in Mexico City, the Warriors lost a tough 35-32 decision to the UNAM Pumas CU from Mexico City. The game had been organized to commemorate the 90th anniversary of American football at UNAM – the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
This season the Warriors will head back to Mexico to face the University of Chihuahua on August 18.
The recruiting process opened on April 23 and interested players are asked to send their game film to recruiting@europewarriors.com.
The selected squad will meet in Madrid on August 10 at the four star Hotel Senator in Barajas. The next day, the Warriors head to Chihuahua as a team. After arriving in Mexico, preparations for the game will get underway with two-a-day pracies, meetings, video analysis. The team returns to Spain on August 21.
