The Europe Warriors have arrived in Mexico City and begun practicing for their historic game against the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) Pumas CU Saturday at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario on the UNAM campus in Mexico City.
With players representing 13 different countries and 32 teams from Europe, the Warriors are unique. Never has a team from Europe been assembled to play against a Mexican college team before.
The Pumas, one of the storied teams in Mexican college football history, are celebrating 90 years of history this year and to commemorate the anniversary the institution, with an enrollment of 342,000, has scheduled this very special event in which the blue and gold will face the Europe Warriors all star team. This is the first time an international team will play the Pumas, one of the most successful college programs in Mexico.
Assembled by Jesús E. Sánchez from Mexico, current head coach of Osos Rivas (Madrid, Spain), the Europe Warriors have been four months in the making.
The final roster is set. Players from 11 countries will form the first Europe Warriors Squad. Italy, Czech Republic, France, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Turkey, Norway, Denmark, Poland, USA, Canada and Mexico will be represented.
