The Wroclaw Panthers have signed Russian/American running back Gennadiy Adams to boost their ground game for the 2024 season.
Adams was a key factor in the Potsdam Royals march to the German Football League title in 2023 rushing for 797 yards and 11 touchdowns finishing as the seventh leading rusher in the GFL. He had spent parts of the 2021 and 2022 ELF seasons with the Frankfurt Galaxy scoring a 43 yard touchdown in the 2021 championship game which helped the Galaxy defeat the Hamburg Sea Devils 32-30.
He was the second leading rusher in the GFL in 2019 in his first stint with the Potsdam Royals amassing 1,246 yards and 15 touchdowns on 250 carries. The Royals finished the 2019 season as the sixth-ranked rushing team in the league.
The 5’9″, 210 pound, 29 year old Adams, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, attended Benmidji State University (Minnesota) (NCAA Div. II) for the last two years of his college career, recording 1,246 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns while catching 20 passes for 271 yards and another four touchdowns. He was a two-year member of the Simon Fraser University football team in Burnaby, B.C., Canada in 2013 and 2014 where he averaged 6.3 yards per carry in 10 games in 2014.
Adams joins a Panthers squad that has made a number of head-turning signings including the top quarterback in the GFL in 2023, Steven Duncan, All Star tight end Adia Botello Moreno, All ELF linebacker AJ Wentland (returning) and former NFL receiver Matt Cole.
