Poland’s European League of Football (ELF) representative, the Wrocław Panthers, have signed former Charleston Southern University (NCAA, DI) linebacker Solomon Brown for the 2023 season.
The 6 ‘1, 230-pound Central, South Carolina native played all four years of eligibility in neighboring North Carolina for the relatively unknown Charleston Southern, proving to be one of their most impactful players on defense as a linebacker/defensive end.
During his career, he totalled 278 tackles, 49 tackles for a loss, 16 sacks, five forced fumbles and two interceptions earning him a spot on the All-Big South Conference First Team for four consecutive years.
Despite his overwhelmingly impressive college career and a push for the NFL following his graduation in 2018, little else in the football world has happened. The day after Brown graduated with his second degree he got married and life started coming thick and fast.
Three years later the 25-year-old began reassessing his football journey and came to the conclusion that it ended prematurely:
“I felt like I never had a second shot at it all. When I finished college ball and tried out for the NFL, I just had a lot of things going on. Then Covid-19 came around, and as we all know life keeps moving. So that’s what I did too, but I was still training and decided to try everything one more time.
“In my pursuit to play for the XFL I was told by a friend to put my highlights and stats on Europlayers. It was there that the Wrocław staff reached out to me.”
Brown hasn’t played a competitive snap of football for four years. But at the spritely age of 26, a stellar college career in the bank and a whole lot to prove, Brown is likely to have a big impact for the Panthers this year.
