ELF Week 9 Standout Performances – Stuttgart Surge, Wroclaw Panthers plus a couple of surprises

The European League of Football playoffs are looming closer and closer and this past weekend’s games continued to provide drama.

There were records broken in early games only to be broken again later in the day, and the Prague Lions came back from the brink of death.

In terms of winning and losing, it was largely a predictable week, but it doesn’t mean there can’t be players who excelled. Let’s get straight into the talent on show this past weekend.

, with the high-scoring games this weekend, some of the entries will be brief as to not go on for several days.

Kenyatte Allen – Stuttgart Surge

508 Yards – 4 Passing TDs – 76.47% Comp. 

4 Rushing TDs – 43 Rushing Yards

Allen was largely inconsistent this season with the Leipzig Kings but following into his second week as a Stuttgart Surge player he put on a historically excellent performance. He has always been a rushing threat, but he killed the Milano defense on the ground and in the air in this affair. Overall, the offense put up 78 points and personally, Allen had an 8 touchdown performance, putting him into that echelon with Rhein Fire QB Jadrian Clark for individual touchdowns in one single game. Three separate receivers had 100+ yards and we will get to one of them later.

Wroclaw Panthers Offense

RB Dawid Brzozowski – 22 Rushes – 190 Yards – 2 TDs – 1 Catch – 36 Yards

QB Makenzie Sexton – 68.18 % Comp. – 313 Yards – 5 TDs

WR Tony Tate – 4 Catches – 88 Yards – 3 TDs

Zero Sacks Allowed

Every player on the offense of the Panthers put up numbers on the Prague Lions. A total of 73 points and excellent performances from the RB, QB, WR and OL. Everything was perfect. Admittedly, they did dismantle a weak team but that didn’t diminish the exceptional all-round performance by the Panthers. It should give them a lot of momentum going into the bye week. It would take forever to go into each player’s game, but this was an all-time offensive output.

Paris Pass Rush

Paris got back on track after an extremely tough stretch of games over the last few weeks with a comfortable 37-6 win over the Barcelona Dragons. In the win, the standout was the pass rush and overall performance of the front seven of the Musketeers. They recorded 7 sacks in total and 10 TFLs against a Barcelona offensive line that has had a lot of praise in their pass blocking over the course of the season. MLF Dauson Dales was the facilitator of the team and was responsible for a large amount of the projection, either directly or through the attention that he received from the offense.

Louis Geyer – Stuttgart Surge

9 Catches – 217 Yards – 1 TD

Stuttgart QB Kenyatte Allen’s historic performance needed a player to step up to the occasion, that player was Louis Geyer. Easily one of the best European receivers, Geyer continues to improve yearly. The short game was what killed Milano this week and Geyer was on the end of several screens, as was Yannick Mayr who could easily have made this list. What put Geyer on this was the addition of his deep catches. He had catches of 58, 52, 40 and 21 yards. Milano just couldn’t contain him, and it shows how he has developed excellently in all facets of the game as a receiver.

Devan Burrell – Milano Seamen

196 Kick Return Yards – 85 Punt Return Yards – 1 Punt Return TD

It was a game of standouts in Milano vs Stuttgart! Burrell would be higher on this list but the whole Milano defense left a lot to be desired. However, on special teams, Burrell is still the favorite as Special Teams Player of the Year. Another score off the punt and a collection of great returns showcased his vision, movement, and creativity from the return position. He very nearly had multiple scores on kick and punt return but was stopped just shy, but to have 281 total yards was a huge asset to the offence.

With the cancelled games and the high-scoring offenses, it was bound to be an odd week. Alas, it is week 10 and a bye week will give teams a rest and an opportunity to plan for the playoffs. Awards are also still very much in limbo and two teams remain undefeated, so the season is far from over in terms of storylines. Until next time.
