ELF: Week 11 Sees Six Games as End of Season Looms

The European League of Football is heading into the home stretch of the 2024 regular season.

With 12 of the 17 teams in action there are a few key matchups with the playoffs looming.

Let’s take a look.

Vienna Vikings (10-0) @ Helvetic Mercenaries (1-8)

The Vikings and Mercenaries square off after meeting three weeks ago in a game in which the Swiss team put up an impressive fight on the road, losing 49-40.  Now they get the undefeated Vikings again, this time at home.  Can the Mercenaries keep this one competitive as well?

Hamburg Sea Devils (2-6) @ Madrid Bravos (6-2)

After dropping a tough game to Paris two weeks ago, the Bravos bounced back admirably with a 35-0 shutout performance against Cologne.  Now they host a reeling Hamburg team which has lost five games in a row.  Look for Madrid to have a strong performance in the first ever meeting between these teams.

Stuttgart Surge (8-0) @ Milano Seamen (3-6)

The undefeated Surge travel to Italy to face the Seamen, but the German side should have no issues in this one.  They beat Milano 55-9 back in week 4, and this contest should finish with a similarly lopsided score.

Frankfurt Galaxy (3-5) @ Cologne Centurions (3-5)

The Galaxy snapped a 3 game skid last week with a win over Hamburg, while the Centurions were shutout in Madrid.  These teams faced off three weeks ago in Frankfurt, when Cologne pulled out a somewhat surprising win on the road.  While it is almost certain that neither team will make the playoffs, they seem to be evenly matched, so this should be a game to look out for on Sunday.

Paris Musketeers (6-2) @ Berlin Thunder (4-5)

Paris was defeated for the second time this season by the Rhein Fire last week, so they will look to get back to their winning ways this week in Berlin.  Last time these teams played, Paris jumped out to a 35-0 lead before somehow allowing Berlin to cut the deficit to 35-27.  They will be sure to put on a more well-rounded performance against a team needing a win to stay in the playoff hunt.

Munich Ravens (5-3) @ Prague Lions (0-9)

The only winless team in the league in Prague has a tough test ahead of them Sunday as they face a Munich team who has won three straight.  The Ravens dismantled the Lions by a score of 51-7 back in week 3, and should once again have little trouble in beating their Czech foes.
