ELF: Vienna Vikings WR Noah Touré Offensive Rookie of the Year?
By Danny Weber, Fourth Down Fiasco
Vienna Vikings rookie wide receiver Noah Touré is having a banner year. Of that there is no question. In fact, he is arguably the leading candidate for the European League of Football’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award and is considered one of the best up-and-coming homegrown wide receivers in the league, and one of the top receivers on his team.
Only halfway through his rookie season with the Vikings, Touré has 33 receptions for 519 yards, and four touchdowns, which puts him in the top 10 in receiving yards in the league. With the injury to his teammate Jordan Bouah early in the season, Touré needed to step up, and step up he did! In his first two games as the number two receiver he had 17 catches for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns. Not a bad way to put yourself on the map.
At only 22 years old, he has the time and ability to become not only the best wide receiver on the Vikings but possibly in the league. Let’s compare Noah Touré’s rookie season (through 7 games) to some of the best rookie seasons the ELF has ever had.
Noah Touré: 519 yards, 3 touchdowns
Juan Flores-Calderon (Milano Seamen): 513 yards, 4 touchdowns
Louis Geyer (Stuttgart Surge) – Possibly the best homegrown WR to play the game: 354 yards, 3 touchdowns
Numbers don’t lie, and it’s clear that Touré is on pace to have the best rookie season by any wide receiver in the short history of the ELF We may only have a small sample of his production in the league, but if you have been following him from his time on the Salzburg Ducks in the Austrian Football League, or even the Austrian National Team, you would know that the potential is there.
There isn’t much left to say… But if there is something you need to take away from this, this is it:
“Watch out for Noah Touré, because in the next couple of years, he will be one of the best receivers in the European League of Football.”
Mark my words!
