The Vienna Vikings of the European League of Football have signed veteran offensive lineman Aleksandar Milanovic.
Milanovic, who began his career with the Vikings, is thrilled to be back in purple for the team’s inaugural season in the ELF:
“My excitement is huge. I am back where everything has started for me. It’s time to dominate and put Vienna on the map!”
The 6’7″, 295-pound offensive lineman first began his career in Vienna back way back in 2005. Milanovic played for the Vikings until 2011 before earning a scholarship to Sacramento State University in California (NCAA Div. 1 FCS). There, he totaled 33 career starts with the Hornets and started every game during the 2014 season, earning 3rd team All-Conference at the conclusion of the season. He then spent his senior year in the 2015 season at Adams State (NCAA D2) with the Grizzlies.
Milanovic returned to Europe in 2017 playing for the Vienna Vikings once again for the following two seasons. His return played a key role in the Vikings 2017 Austrian Bowl championship. The well-traveled lineman then took his career abroad once again, helping the Helsinki Roosters of Finland win the Maple Bowl championship in 2019. Since then, the 30-year old has been playing and coaching in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Banja Luka Rebels.
Milanovic is one of many new additions to the Vienna Vikings roster as talent from home and abroad flocks to join one of ELF’s strongest newcomers. The veteran lineman joins Austrian national team players Florian Albrecht, Dustin Illetschko, and Thomas Schnurrer who all will be a part of the Vikings historic 2022 season.
