The Stuttgart Surge of the European League of Football have lured trail-blazing talent Moritz Böhringer out of retirement. The former 6th-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings now reunites with Surge head coach Jordan Neuman to play with his younger brother Paul in the European League of Football.
“I am excited to play with my brother and will try to help Stuttgart Surge reach its goals.”
The 6’5,” 230 pound receiver made history back in 2016 becoming the first European drafted by an NFL team without the benefit of having played college football. The German receiver wowed NFL scouts and everyone else else at the 2016 Florida Atlantic Pro Day and was historically drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 6th round of the NFL Draft in 2016.

Prior to his NFL stint, Böhringer first attracted the eyes of scouts through a breakout 2015 campaign in the German Football League where he racked up 59 receptions for 1,232 yards and 13 touchdowns for then-coach Jordan Neuman’s Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns.
In 2021, Böhringer returned to Germany to finish his degree in mechanical engineering, and quickly found himself back with coach Neuman and the Unicorns in a triumphant return to German football. The former NFL International Pathway Player helped the Unicorns capture the CEFL title in 2021, and then returned for the 2022 season helping the Unicorns to both a CEFL and the German Bowl title. During his last two season he put up 73 catches for 1,292 yards and 17 touchdowns.
