The Stuttgart Surge of the European League of Football have signed veteran quarterback Randall Schroeder.
The two-time Danish champion is thrilled to be part of Stuttgart’s second season in the ELF:
“I chose the Surge because of the opportunity. What coach Martin [Hanselmann] is building in Stuttgart is special and it’s becoming increasingly obvious that the European League of Football is the future of American football in Europe. I can’t wait to be a part of a hungry team and an up-and-coming league”
The 6’1″, 195-pound native of Mooresville, North Carolina, is coming off of his second championship season in Europe leading the Copenhagen Towers to a Mermaid Bowl championship. He led the capital city powerhouse to their first-ever Northern European Championship title, beating Sweden’s Carlstad Crusaders 44-43 on game winning touchdown in the final seconds. He also led the team to a Mermaid Bowl (Danish Championship) victory, beating the Triangle Razorbacks 23-22 on game winning drive with one minute left in the fourth quarter.
Before coming to Europe, he spent two years at Truman State University (NCAA Div. II) before moving over to Ave Maria University (NAIA) where he threw for 1,275 yards in his senior season. As a starter at Truman State, he had a 4-2 record.
