After taking over the Lions following the mid-season departure of Zach Harrod, Prague has decided to stay with Daniel Disch to be the head coach for the 2024 ELF season.
After the 1-11 campaign, Disch looks to bring a different attitude and confidence now that he is getting a chance to lead the Lions for a whole season. Disch has been with the Lions since 2019, before their time in the ELF when he came on as a defensive coordinator.
This will be Disch’s second gig as a head coach in Europe. Before joining Prague, he spent two separate seasons with the GFL’s Kiel Baltic Hurricanes. In 2015 Disch was the defensive coordinator and in 2018 returned as head coach. The Hurricanes finished that season 4-9-1.
Prior to this year in Kiel, Disch worked the college and high school football circuit in the United States for over 30 years. He served as the secondary coach at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2016-17 and spent three years as a defensive coordinator at the University of North Carolina from 2012-14.
In 2011, he was a defensive coordinator at Southern Miss, and before that he coached the linebackers at the University of Illinois for six years. His first college stint was in 2004 at the University of Florida, where he coached the defensive backs.
Disch, from Jacksonville, Florida, got his start coaching after playing football for and graduating from Florida State University in 1981. He then went on to coach 22 years in high school, 16 of them as head coach of Ed White High School.
