The Paris Musketeers of the European League of Football have signed veteran French running back Stephen Yepmo. The savvy ballcarrier is one of the more decorated French players in recent history winning two domestic championships, three international IFAF medals, and several individual awards.
Now after spending over three years away from football, he looks to be an impact player for Paris.
Yepmo, 32, returns to the gridiron after last playing in 2019 for Germany’s Elmshorn Fighting Pirates in the GFL2. In only four games, Yepmo ran for 284 yards and five scores.
Prior to that, the 5’7 215-lb ballcarrier was one of the top running backs in France, producing several standout seasons as a member of the Thonon Black Panthers, winning two championships back to back in 2013 and 2014. He also spent one another season abroad playing for the Geneva Seahawks of Switzerland in 2015.
Yepmo was one of the French league’s leading rushers prior to 2019 and the winner of numerous league awards. During that time, he was also a mainstay on France’s national team helping them take home Gold in the 2018 European Championships, and Bronze in 2014. Yepmo was also instrumental in France’s 2017 World Games championship.
Yepmo joins what could be one of the ELF’s most exciting offenses as head coach Marc Mattioli has signed the ELF’s all-time leading passer Zach Edwards, along with last year’s top receiver and tight end Kyle Sweet and Adria Botello Moreno. Yepmo is the latest French talent to flock to the capital cities new ELF team as Stanley Zeregbe, Remi Bertellin, Mamadou Sy, and fellow running back Jason Aguemon have also joined the newly named Musketeers.
