In a matchup of European League of Football early playoff contenders, the Paris Musketeers defeated the Frankfurt Galaxy at home by a score of 25-22.
The Galaxy opened the scoring with a scoop-and-score after Paris fumbled the football and Daniel Josiah picked it up and ran into the end zone. Paris responded with a field goal, and later took the lead in the second quarter on a touchdown pass from Zach Edwards to Jordan Genmark-Heath, though the extra point was missed.
Frankfurt was then driving down the field to respond, but Musketeers defender Chandler Jones intercepted a Luke Zahradka pass and returned it deep into Galaxy territory. On the next play, Edwards made a beautiful throw to former Galaxy tight end Kevin Mwamba for a touchdown to extend the Paris lead. However, the Galaxy offense bounced back, driving down the field and finishing the drive with a touchdown pass from Zahradka to his favorite target in Markell Castle. Paris drove down the field right before halftime looking to add some more points, but Edwards fumbled the football and the Galaxy recovered. The Musketeers went into halftime leading 15-14.
Paris started off the third quarter with a field goal from Benjamin Bono, but that was the only scoring play of the frame. In the fourth quarter, the Musketeers extended their lead further with a 12 yard rushing touchdown from Jason Aguemon. Frankfurt stayed in the game with a touchdown pass from Zahradka to Kevin Kaya, and the two point conversion cut the lead to 25-22 with seven minutes remaining. The Galaxy got the ball again and had a chance to tie the game or take the lead, but the drive ended with a missed field goal. Finally, they had one last possession in the dying seconds, but Chandler Jones intercepted his second pass of the day to seal the victory.
Paris will be back in action next week at home in a huge showdown with the Rhein Fire, while the Galaxy host the Wroclaw Panthers in another interesting matchup.
